Chinese carving of Kwan Yin, the Goddess of mercy and compassion. One of the most beloved of all Buddhist deities. The spelling of her name varies, but the effect that her spoken name produces does not. She is the embodiment of compassion and loving kindness and is especially connected to children and those who are sick, lost, frightened or simply in unfortunate circumstances.
