Early 20th century champleve table lamp with shade. Champlevé is an enameling technique (similar to cloisonné) in which cells are carved into the surface of a metal object, and filled with colored enamel. It is a very specific craft, due to the intensive labor and skill required. This vase was likely converted to a lamp later in the 20th century, complete with a newer, custom rolled-edge lampshade.
